Miami Beach or Enterprise Beach finds itself to the south of Oistins Bay, Barbados. This beach is a good size one, which splits into two, with a gentler cove on the north side and a south side which is more suited for surfing.
The Northside is shallow and calm. Therefore, making it perfect for children and older folk to swim and exercise.
In addition, the sand under your feet is nice and soft, and there are no stones, coral or reefs you have to avoid.
Likewise, most evenings, just before the sun sets, you will see older folks taking part in a water aerobics class.

There are Bathroom facilities at Enterprise beach.
Enterprise Beach Barbados is one of the many beaches on the island to be blessed with bathroom facilities. And yes, I said blessed because not all beaches are as lucky to have them.
These facilities are kept clean by the staff, so be considerate. Please don’t make a mess.
Here you can use the showers to wash off, after having a sea bath and then change your clothes if you need to.
There is a lifeguard station.

Never take the seas for granted, no matter how calm and safe they may seem. As Murphy’s law states, ” Anything that can go wrong will go wrong.”
Therefore don’t swim near the cliffs, especially at high tide. And always follow the beach flag warning system.

Why is Enterprise Beach called Miami Beach?
Why do we locals call Enterprise Beach Miami Beach! I don’t know. But one can come up with an idea as to why we do.
On a bright sunny day, Miami Beach is picture-perfect, or shall I say postcard perfect. The colour of the sand ranges from golden under the trees to white on the shore.

Furthermore, there are colourful umbrellas and beach chairs on the beach, along with well-landscaped sea grape trees, coupled with the well designed Abidah by Accra hotel in the backdrop, which only adds to the allure of the beach.
Who is Enterprise Beach for?
Enterprise Beach doesn’t only cater to the sunbathers. On the contrary, you will find lots of trees, benches, and an abundance of shade. So, if you are only interested in relaxing on The Beach, you are well accommodated.

Unfortunately, every beach won’t cater to your specific needs. However, Miami Beach does give you options.

Where to grab something to eat on Enterprise Beach?
Some vendors sell drinks, snacks and fruit as you enter the beach. Unfortunately, Mr Delicious no longer operates his canteen from the bus. Therefore, if you want something a bit heavier to eat, you will have to head back to Oistins itself.
Here are a few places you can grab something to eat while in Oistins.
- Oistin’s Bay Gardens. Oistin’s Bay Gardens is the home of the Oistin’s Friday night fish fry, which I’ll cover in a separate blog post. However, anyone can head over to The Oistin’s Bay Gardens any day of the week and enjoy lunch or dinner. Oistin Bay Gardens makes up dozens of food shops offering freshly caught fish and other meats, along with a variety of local dishes.
- Chefette Restaurants. Chefette restaurants are locally owned and offer barbecued and broasted meals. Additionally, you can purchase rotis, wraps, chicken breast sandwiches, salads, icecreams and much more.
- KFC. KFC is internationally known and operates here in Barbados. You can find a few of them across the island, and I am sure the menu doesn’t change much over here.
- Boats Bar and Grill. The menu at Boats Bar and Grill is more upscale than the other restaurants listed here. However, you don’t have to dress formally to eat here. You can choose outdoor seating or open-air upstairs seating. No matter where you sit, you are sure to have a good outing at Boats Bar and Grill.
Things to pack when going to Enterprise/Miami Beach, Barbados.
- Sunblock. No matter what skin colour or tone you are, if you stay in the sun too long without protection, it will mess you up, and that’s my polite version of saying it if you know what I mean. I usually pick up a pouch of Neutrogena Hydro Boost and keep it in my backpack.
- Polarized Sunglasses. Just like your skin, your eyes need protection from the sun. You will see what I mean when you step onto the white sand, and the sun hits the sand and reflects it onto your face. It’s like getting a double whammy. Protect yourself at all costs. It won’t stop you from having fun in the sun. Oakley Men’s Rectangular Sunglasses are my style. What’s yours?
- Insect repellant. Sandflies and mosquitoes are always around the corner, especially when wearing shorts. Get ahead of the bites by putting on some repellant around grassy areas or dusk and dawn. OFF! Insect repellant is a well-known brand here in Barbados, and you can pick it up anywhere.
